Community
We believe in community and we like to connect to people in more ways than just the concert hall or the CD recording. School Concerts and Creative Music Projects involve us with young people and groups that we otherwise might not meet.
Recent Projects
Yarmouth Minor Music (October, 2012) – A couple of days in Yarmouth and the environs, including a public concert, a traditional masterclass, an arranging workshop, and concert at a seniors home. Funded by Yarmouth Minor Music.
Community Residency in Truro (November, 2011) – A great couple of days working in the schools, with local musicians and residents of Truro, including concerts at the Marigold Theatre and at First United Church.
Community Residency in Annapolis Royal (Nov-Dec, 2010) – An intensive period of musicmaking with the schools, local musicians and residents of Annapolis Royal, culminating in a concert in the King’s Theatre.
Jewish Folk Songs Project (2008) – A creative music and history project in Sambro School, involving Rhapsody Quintet along with Helena Jockel sharing her experiences of the holocaust, Phyllis Knox (soprano), Tasha Miller (soprano) and Colin Matthews (cello).
